Where You Found Your Sugar Glider Diet Formula
I made my own because my male was a very very very picky eater and very underweight when I rescued him. I just wasn't sure if it would be "bad" for him to eat on a regular basis or if it would be ok for him to eat until he put on some weight and started eating a more well balanced diet that my other sugar glider is on. So any input would be great! My email is clonedcake@yahoo.com. I have never had sugar gliders and although I did a lot of research before getting my babies I wasn't prepared for one who wouldn't eat. So it's similar to some of the bml mixes out there.. please give me input!
What are the ingredients or where can it be purchased?
1- 8oz can of Ensure (vanilla)
1 1/2 tsp. - Rep-Cal
1 1/8 tsp. - Herptivite
5 tsp. - Glider Booster (since he doesn't eat anything else I can't sprinkle it onto meals so I incorporated it into his meal)
1/2 cup - Honey
1 - 4oz can of Gerber juice with yogurt
1/2 cup - Baby Cereal
1/4 cup - Wheat Germ
2 - Hardboiled eggs (with shell)
I put all of the ingredients in at the same time except for the eggs, baby cereal and wheat germ. Those I added into the blender slowly, and blended until it was a puree. Then I froze it in a ziploc (because I don't have ice cube trays).
* So far this is the only thing that my little boy will eat. He isn't interested in any other Bml mixes or other recipes online and he isn't horribly interested in fruits/veggies. He will on occasion eat a superworm, but that is the only insect that he seems to like so far. And to make matters worse he will eat and drink on his own but it's very little and very rare. I mainly have to hand feed him and offer him liquids every hour or two. I have had him for almost two weeks and his stress level is definitely decreased yet his appetite is still very low. I did the pinch test on his skin and he seems to be pretty well hydrated and I did take him to my local vet who said he was doing well and healthy. I am moving and so Saturday August 21st I will be taking both my babies to the vet again just because the vet I went to seemed like an idiot. Please help because I am very attached to both my babies and very worried about my boy. Is there any way to know if he's stressed? Because he no longer crabs at me, he went from drawing blood to just "tasting" which barely feels like a nibble, when I got him he had bald patches from over grooming himself which is now growing in :). And he seems to be trusting me more, he would always glide away from me and now he will actually sit on me. PLEASE HELP! I just want him to eat and I will take any suggestions, and please let me know if this diet is ok for him to eat until he does eat better.
