Rat Tricks and Tips

Amber Lee, the mommy of the rest of our rats! <3

I would describe pet rats as being

Amazing. I've owned them since I was 16. I have 5. 3 girls and 2 boys.I am set on rats being one pet I'm always going to have in the house. They're so, so smart (mine dance, beg, and give kisses when asked if they feel like it). They love to cuddle(girls not so much). So easy to care for. They love to know what you're doing all the time - SO CURIOUS!

I'm just soo in love with these lil' creatures! I definitely recommend these lil' creatures as pets - 100%.

RESEARCH FOOD AND CARE BEFORE YOU GET A RAT SO YOU KNOW THE COMMON KNOWLEDGE OF OWNING THEM.

NOT FOR KIDS UNDER 13 UNLESS SUPERVISED!

TREAT THEM AS YOU WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED! THEY HAVE FEELINGS TOO.

I got my pet rat from

I got my female from a pet store and accidentally bred her with my friend's male and she had 7 babies. 2 girls and 5 boys. We kept the 2 girls and 2 of the boys were given back to us because the person felt that she wasn't spending enough time with them.

Tips and Tricks

  • Use food to reward them when they do something good.
  • Never, ever force them to do stuff - that's how you lose trust with them.
  • Never hit or spank your rat. Just push it gently away/take what ever you don't want them to have and don't give them any treat and tell them NO in a firm, not yelling voice, or *pssttt* at them.
  • If you *psstt* at them and they leave it alone give them a treat so they'll learn that when you make that noise you dont want them to do that.
