Pet Rats are as diverse in their personalities as are dogs or cats. Each rat is unique. I have had rats that are in love with people and others that are more shy. Rats are sweet, social, trainable and funny.
I got my pet rat from
Various pet stores, Pet World, PetSmart, Petco. I buy my rats. Pet store rats deserve love just as much as those from a breeder, and some of the nicest rats have come from pet stores. Be sure to get your rats from separate sex tanks as you may get a surprise litter of as many as 12 rats.
Tips and Tricks
- My boy Butters knows the commands, come, no, down, sit, kisses and rock. Butters personal favorite toy is a small rock that he enjoys carrying around. Butters also wags his tail when petted.
- Rats like boxes, pet store igloos for small pets, or any other hiding place. I am my rats favorite toy, they enjoy my company and free time much more than any small toy.
- Be sure to clean you tank or cage at least once a week or more, pay attention to your rat for at least 1 hour a day. Give them a variety of foods, do not give oranges to them they will potentially cause renal failure especially in male rats.
