I would describe pet rabbits as being...
Very loving, he lies on my chest and licks my chest and hand for hours while I watch TV. He is a mixed breed of Netherland drawf/Dutch, but grew up small. He weighs 3 lbs and is extremly lively, enjoys being free, jumps and hops up in the air, turns around and goes back the same way after I let him out of his large pen. He tears through my one-bedroom apartment from one end to the other. One day, he went in my bathroom and found my toilet paper holder, and stood up on it and the paper started rolling and the more he tried to get off, it would keep rolling all over the floor, just like a cat would do.
I got my pet rabbit from...
I obtained him from Kalihi Pet Center, LLC. It was on April 15, 2009 that I decided to celebrate filing my taxes on time and getting some money back for a change. I had lost my favorite mini American Fuzzy Holland lop about a year ago, and finally decided to go ahead and get another rabbit. He is a real joy. Much different from my holland lop. My holland lop was a very gentle, easy going rabbit. Moved much slower! Was a very beautiful rabbit.
Tips and Tricks
- I feed my rabbit high-quality rabbit pellets and plenty of Timothy hay, fresh veggies and a little bit of fruit. Only feed him half a carrot once in while, because of the high sugar content in them. Tricks: Stands up for treats; goes to bed at night when I tell him it's time to go to bed. How: I herd him like a dog does to herd sheep towards a certain destination, and he goes in to his box inside his pen for the night. Sometimes, all I have to do is stand by the pen and say its time to go to bed and he will come and go in. Learned on his own: Rolls the toilet paper onto the floor.
