Giant African Land Snails
These critters are aptly named, with the larger species reaching up to a foot in length. Since they are so big they can cause a lot of destruction to vegetation and on top of that they are very prolific breeders, so they can't be kept in the US. However, they are kept as pets in some countries, and are farmed for food in some parts of Africa. Owners of these snails find they make interesting pets.
