Colubrid Snake

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

A colubrid snake is part of a large classification of snakes that includes two thirds of all snakes. This family of snakes is found on every continent except Antarctica.

Most colubrids are non-venomous, but a few groups can be fatal to humans.

This classification is used for any snake that doesn't fit anywhere else and more research is being done to properly classify and sort these groups.
