What You Need to Know About Choosing Pet Mice

Life Span of Pet Mice: about 1.5 to 2 years

Size: approximately 6-7 inches long, including the tail. The tail makes up about half that length.

Social Nature of Pet Mice: mice are very social so are best kept in pairs or groups. A pair or group of females is the best choice (males sometimes fight as they get older, and a male-female pair will soon overwhelm you with babies). They are quite active and a group of mice can be quite entertaining to watch as they play together.

Habits Of Pet Mice: mice are nocturnal and are most active at night. They can be tamed with patience and frequent handling but being small and quick they can be tricky to handle.

Other Considerations: housing can be tricky, especially for small mice who can escape through the wire spacing on hamster cages. Solid sided cages do not have the best ventilation, but are more secure.
