This video shows the method recommended to pick up a smaller rabbit. This rabbit is pretty calm so the video makes it look really easy, but your rabbit may put up more of a fuss at first. The important thing is to support your rabbit firmly under both the chest and the hindquarters, and bring your rabbit up against your body. For a larger rabbit, it is usually better to pick up your rabbit from behind with a hand under the chest and under the hind end (you can bring your larger rabbit up against your body as well, but sideways rather than feet first usually works better).
