Not all vets will see or treat all types of animals. Some vets may treat only farm animals, some only cats and dogs, and some only birds. Others may see a variety of species. This list compiles the veterinarians who will treat some or all types of exotic pets. Be sure to call the exotics vet you choose first to see if they treat your specific kind of exotic, and remember - if your pet is not legal where you live it may be especially hard to find a vet.

If you already have an exotics vet in Maine but they aren't on the list, send me an e-mail with their information and I'll add them.

  • If you aren't sure whether or not you need to take your exotic pet to a vet, you can always call and speak with one of the staff at the hospital. They should be able to let you know whether or not your pet should be seen by an exotics vet. But remember, all exotics should get a yearly check up, regardless of whether or not they look sick to you.
