How Do I Know If My Pet Is Affected?
If your exotic pet, dog, or cat is eating this food, seek veterinary attention immediately to avoid the worst possible side effects. The most common clinical symptoms you will see are loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, jaundice, diarrhea, and abdominal abnormalities. Severe liver damage can occur over time which can lead to liver failure and death if left untreated.
Why Is the Food Recalled?
Aflatoxin, which is produced primarily by the strains of the Aspergillus fungus, was found in some of the pet food and can cause severe liver damage.
