Video - Showing Example of a Hamster Wheel That is Too Small

A Hamster will Still Use It, but Could be Injured

Somebody recently asked me if their hamster would still use a wheel if it was too small. As this video demonstrates, the drive to run on a wheel is so strong that hamsters will definitely use a wheel, even if it is too small. The problem is that a wheel which is too small means that a hamster has to arch his or her back to use the wheel, which is bound to be uncomfortable and could even result in injury. Look for a wheel on which the hamster can keep his or her back in a natural position, as if running on a flat surface.
