Giant Millipedes ranks as the one exotic pet I don't think I could ever have. I'm not sure if it is all the legs (nowhere near a thousand, but still a lot of legs) or how they move, but giant millipedes are the one pet that I do find scary.

Giant millipedes reach a length of up to 10 inches and have a round sturdy body. They are usually quite docile; their main defense is to curl into a tight ball and secrete a brown liquid when threatened. This fluid is slightly toxic and can be irritating or cause a burning sensation. If a millipede secretes this fluid while you are handling it, wash it off right away and be careful not to get it in your eyes, mouth or open cuts.

With all that said, giant millipedes can make good pets for the right people. They are another compact, quiet and clean pet. They like it warm and humid, but once you meet those conditions they are pretty low key in their requirements. The feed on plant matter such as soft vegetables and decaying leaf litter.
