Online Shopping for Exotic Pet Supplies

When looking for exotic pets supplies, our local pet stores often have somewhat limited selections. I think overall more stores are carrying quality exotic pet supplies (though many items they carry might still be inappropriate). However, I believe that many online specialty stores carry a much better selection of unique products that are very specific and better suited for certain species than the typical pet stores. Often, these online stores specialize in one (or even a few) species, and you don't have to wade through mountains of dog and cat supplies to find the "exotic" stuff.

Many of these stores also carry gift items for owners that are also unique and hard to find elsewhere. I have compiled a list of just a few of the exotic pet online stores that I enjoy visiting, in no particular order. By way of a disclaimer, I have not purchased from most of these stores so do not have personally experience with them (primarily because I am not a US resident so shipping is often not available or problematic). However, the ones I have included here have been around for a number of years and seem to enjoy a good reputation among pet shoppers.

The importance of adequate cages and a good selection of chew things and other toys for house rabbits is becoming much better understood. This helps explain the emergence of several online stores aimed at rabbit owners. Owners of other small pets such as rats, guinea pigs, and small rodents should not overlook the value of some of the toys sold at these stores, though.

Great name, great selection. The guinea pig department is not nearly as large as the rabbits, but carries a good selection unique items. The "Gift Shop" carries a good selection of neat things for people, too.

There are not a lot of stores devoted to the needs of chinchillas, and this one offers a great selection of unique chinchilla-friendly products.

This store in based in the UK but ships internationally. Originally carried a vast and amazing array of guinea pig gifts, which is still the case. They have now also expanded into rat, chinchilla and rabbit owner gifts.
