Video of a Leopard Gecko Eating a Cricket

or, Why You Need to Worry About Your Gecko Eating Substrate

From , former About.com Guide

Added on Mar 8 2007

This leopard gecko is a pretty efficient hunter, but the feeding method of leopard geckos is why there is so much debate over the proper substrate. Because geckos lunge and grab their prey, they are prone to grabbing loose substrate along with their prey. The substrate then has the potential to cause an impaction. Personally, I would not use this substrate; if you use any loose substrate you need to be certain your geckos are not ingesting it.
