As the name suggests, this hammock provides a nice extra living space -- but you'll need a large cage to take full advantage of its size. It's not quite equivalent to an extra floor, of course, as you can't place any extra furnishings or items on it, but for creatures that enjoy a hammock (such as rats and ferrets) this is a nice addition to the cage. About the Product
What I LikeThis product caught my eye because I was always frustrated by the mess on the second level of my homemade rat cage. My rats tended to urinate on the second level, and I was always having a hard time cleaning the shelf and everything underneath it. In addition, my second level was only about a third of the total cage width, and I had a hammock haging beside the second level already. Since my rats love their hammock, I decided to try out the Fuzz-E-Floor and remove the second level/shelf altogether. I've got a pretty large cage and the Fuzz-E-Floor was close to the same dimensions as my cage, so it made what amounted to a full-level hammock. The rats love it, and there is always one or more rats hanging out on the Fuzz-E-Floor.Once a week I just take the whole thing out and wash it, and it has made cage maintenance easier for me. While the instructions say to "hand wash and re-shape" the Fuzz-E-Floor, I'm too lazy for that so have put mine through the washer and dryer several times now, with no apparent ill effects on the Fuzz-E-Floor's condition or shape. The Fuzz-E-Floor is also large enough that I can place some hanging chew toys above the center of the hammock, and not worry (well, not too much) about the rats falling off if they start playing a bit too enthusiastically. Potential PitfallsDue to its large size, the Fuzz-E-Floor is really only useful for large cages. I also suspect it would not stand up well if your pets decided to chew on it (fortunately, my rats tend not to chew on their hammocks , even though they have chewed up some other hanging beds and toys that I have tried).Bottom LineIf you have critters that like hammocks and have a large cage to hang it in, the Fuzz-e-Floor is a great addition to large cages.Suggested Reading |
