The Bottom Line
While I recommend pelleted diets over mixed diets, Charlie Premium Chinchilla Food is a good mixed diet for chinchillas. My biggest reservation is the inclusion of raisins, normally a treat food.
Pros
- Complete and balanced diet

- Vitamin and mineral enriched
Cons
- Favorite bits may be picked out and the rest left
- Contains raisins, usually reserved for treats

Guide Review - Chinchilla Food from Supreme Pet Foods
Charlie Premium Chinchilla Food is an interesting product, best suited for chinchillas that are not picky. It is varied and intended to simulate a naturally foraged diet. However, some chinchillas can be fussy, and may pick out their favorite bits and leave the rest from any mixed food, losing the advantage of the balance and variety in the diet. Additionally, raisins are a favorite food of chinchillas but I am concerned that chinchillas may favor the raisins over the rest of this diet. I advocate using raisins as a treat, but they should be fed sparingly and make a good bonding and taming tool, so would prefer they be kept separate from the diet. Overall, a good diet though - see the "Full Review" for more detail on the diet itself.
