Growing Teeth

If you have a pet hamster, mouse, rat, guinea pig, or pet rabbit you should definitely be checking their teeth.

No, you don't need to brush them, but your herbivorous pet has teeth that grow their entire life, therefore if they aren't naturally wearing them down they can cause serious harm to your pet.

Tooth trims are done using an electric rotary tool, like a Dremel, with a cutting wheel.  Your exotic pet veterinary health team can provide this service to your pet to trim down the front teeth, called the incisors.  This can usually be done without sedation or tranquilization.  If the molars (the teeth in back) get too long, sedation is typically required to trim these back to normal length.
