Dwarf Hamsters

Wednesday May 20, 2009
Dwarf hamsters are increasing in popularity as pets. While their care is basically the same as for the larger Syrian hamsters, they differ in that they can often be kept in pairs or small groups (of the same species only!). The other big difference is that many wire hamster cages won't contain dwarf hamsters. There are a few types of dwarf hamsters, including Dwarf Campbells Russian Hamsters, Winter White Russian Hamsters, and Roborovski Hamsters.
Another small hamster that is available as a pet is the Chinese hamster. They are similar in size to dwarf hamsters, although not true dwarf hamsters.
