Ball Pythons

Wednesday April 15, 2009
If you are new to snakes, you might want to consider a ball python. They are gorgeous, but lack the size and power of some of the larger, less manageable constricting snakes. They have a reputation as being fussy eaters, and have been known to go on very long hunger strikes. However, this can usually be avoided if you are careful and get a captive bred snake that is used to pre-killed prey (get a feeding demonstration if you want to be sure). Read more about the care of ball pythons in "Ball Pythons as Pets."

If you want to further your understanding of Ball Pythons in general, I have heard good things about this DVD by Dr. Steve Gorzula. It is called "Ball Pythons in the Wild" and if you visit Dr. Gorzula's site you can see some nifty video clips that will help you decide if you want the DVD.
