How Did You Name Your Sugar Glider?

Sunday December 28, 2008
In our continuing series on pet names, let's talk about names for sugar gliders. There are quite a few great sugar glider names in the sugar glider names list I started before, but I'm always interested in how people chose their names. Did you have names picked out before you got your sugar gliders? Or did you wait to see what your sugar gliders were like before settling on a name? Please share your sugar gliders' names by adding them to the comments section below. Feel free to share how you chose names too! I hope to compile all these names to update the master list of sugar glider names, as well.

(1) Earla says:

I named “Baby Noel” - Baby Noel - because I knew she was going to be OOP between Dec. 20-25 (she came out of the pouch on Dec. 22, 2004) and as it was the Christmas holidays, Noel came to mind - good name for either male or female and since she was a baby and would be the only one (I had Daddy neutered). The name stuck.

(2) Kari K. says:

My glider’s name is Ralphie!
I adopted him when he was 4 years old and never had a chance to ask his original owner the origin of his name. I tried to rename him Roffles but he just didn’t take to it. Now, Ralphie is just fine with me! :)

(4) Kat Hetrick says:

We named our sugar gliders blossom, buttercup, and bubbles. We had the names picked out for a long time before hand, because we had a plan to get them, and finally it worked. They live with their companions Mojo and Jojo, two iguanas, in their outdoor living habitat that we made for them. For some reason we had a fascination with the powerpuff girls when we picked the names, but they loved the names!

I named my babies based on movie characters. My baby girl is called Arwen and just like the elf, she is very gentle and loving. My baby boy is called Lycan and this sits well with his temperamental attitude.
