Question: My Hamster Bites - What Can I Do?

This is a relatively common problem with new hamsters that have not been handled much and try to bite when owners pick them up. When dealing with these hamsters, it is helpful to remember that they are most likely biting because they are afraid. Gaining their trust takes patience, and my recommendations for how to gain their trust are outlined in the answer to this question.
