From the Forum: Guinea Pig Possessive or Jealous?

A reader asks:

"I have 2 guinea pigs, both female and roughly the same age. I got them at the same time and they've been together for almost 2 years. They get along fine but one of them seems to be overly possessive, or at least jealous, when I pet, pick up, etc. the other pig. Both get ample attention and love, both get as much time with me yet the one just is NOT happy when I spend time with the other pig. I've tried taking both at once, but that can get to be a bit much to handle at times as both want snuggle time alone with me and will resort to trying to push the other out of the way. Do guineas normally get possessive? Again, its really only the one. The moment I take her "sister" out of the cage she goes haywire. Or is it simply a case of her worrying about her "sister"?"
