A Lizard within a Lizard

Thursday September 20, 2007
Some unusual news this week reminds us to be careful what our pets might be eating. Certainly, a particular bearded dragon in Florida was very lucky. Mushu, a 12 inch bearded dragon, received some veterinary assistance to pass a 7 inch rubber lizard that he had swallowed. Mushu is pretty lucky that the rubber lizard didn't cause an impaction, which could have been fatal. The veterinarian quoted in the news item as saying that bearded dragons are known for swallowing small objects and "to be careful what you give your pet to play with." I'll bet Mushu's owners will be keeping a closer eye on what this bearded dragon is eating from now on!
