One summer, we found a small tiger salamander in a load of sand delivered to our home. "Sandy" spent an hour with us in a makeshift tank and happily devoured the grasshopper my son caught for him. Much to my son's dismay though, we returned him to the wild, which I believe is where wild salamanders belong. However, some people do keep tiger salamanders as pets. Care of tiger salamanders is not difficult, and they can actually become quite tame, although handling them is not recommended.
Other amphibians: Fire bellied newts are easy to keep and very popular as pets.

A picture or two of salamanders would be great. There is either a spotted salamander or tiger salamander living in my well control pit. I would like to be able to determine exactly what it is.
