Well, from the retriever's stomach actually. The miraculous thing is that the turtle survived after about 10 minutes in the dog's stomach; a little worse for wear, but alive and kicking. Seems the family's turtles, who normally live outdoors in a pond, were in temporary digs in the bathtub waiting out a cold snap. The dog discovered the turtles and managed to get one down before the being discovered one of her owners, a 12 year old girl who quickly sought help. On the advice of a vet, vomiting was induced, and up came turtle. A vet visit was necessary to patch up the turtle's shell, but really, that is one tough turtle! The vet credits the girl with saving both the turtle and the dog, who undoubtedly would have suffered some sort of intestinal blockage had the turtle not been otherwise "removed."
