Aquatic Turtles and Outdoor Ponds.

Since garden ponds have become more popular, more turtle owners seem to be wondering about putting turtles in a backyard pond. There is little doubt that with a favorable climate and well-designed turtle pond, aquatic turtles usually benefit from time spent outdoors in natural sunlight in a bigger habitat than an aquarium. Keeping them outdoors is not without risk though, including from predators. Planning and thinking ahead will help you get your turtle outside, whether it is for a short time during the summer or for permanent housing. We have a nice size red ear slidder and we have some very very large smooth back turtles who never show their head but sometimes come on to land. What are they?
