Prairie Dog Ban - Petition

Monday February 16, 2004
Last year's situation with Gambian rats, prairie dogs and monkeypox led Ken Walker to write an online petition protesting the new ban on the trade in prairie dogs. Mr. Walker also provides a downloadable preformatted letter in Word format to sign and send to the President and your state representative, linked from this page.

(1) Ken says:

The fight is still on! Go to http://www.congress.org and use it to easily contact all of your federal and state lawmakers at once. DEMAND THAT THE FDA BE FORCED TO DROP THE BAN ON THE PET PRAIRIE DOG.

Did you know that zoo’s such as the Memphis, TN zoo are still allowed to display their Prairie Dogs and have them in the public when we the pet prairie dog owner are committing a federal offense if our PD is taken into any public place? Is this right?! Heck no!

Get your thumbs out of your nose and start helping the fight. Each animal ban that is passed brings us closer to future animal bans.

What’s next… monkies and snakes (there are federal bans proposed for both, you can thank PETA for much of this… remember, they won’t stop until all animals are free from being kept as pets and eaten), horses, dogs, ferrets, cats (what poses a bigger threat to the environment than feral cats)?
